The most contested assertion this website makes is that the Pyramids at Giza were not built as Pharaonic tombs. One can always judge the power of an idea or a proposal by the resistance it gets, and this theory is generating great resistance. The most common refutation is “ What else can they be ? “ The answer is many, many things unimagined by the dim bulb minds that pose the question. In future years they will be seen as wrong as those who in the past claimed the Earth to be flat.

That tomb decoration was in use at the time the Pyramids are believed to have been built is irrefutable. This is a picture of the rock cut tomb of Meresankh, a granddaughter of Khufu, daughter of two of Khufu's children, Kawab and Hetepheres, and half sister and wife of Khafre which is located at Giza . This places her tomb squarely in the time frame it is believed the pyramids were built. Her tomb contains statues, frescos hieroglyphics, and portraits of herself on the two pillars. It defies intelligence to say that her tomb was so elaborately decorated but the tombs of both Pharaohs of the time, Khufu and Khafre, were not.

The idea that a Pharaoh would make the effort and expense of constructing a monumental, earth commensurate structure without leaving his name upon it seven ways this side of Sunday is ludicrous. Yet Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure are devoid of their mummified remains, carvings, bas reliefs, hieroglyphics, murals, frescos, statuary, relics, and artifacts. If they were tombs they are the only known Pharaonic burials devoid of ceremonial adornment. The sarcophagus in the King's Chamber of Cheops is polished smooth on all surfaces. We have no reports from antiquity that the exterior wall surfaces contained any embellishments. The simple facts are that there is no evidence the Great Pyramids were ever used as tombs. Yet the misconception endures.

So the onus to establish that the Great Pyramids were built as tombs for Pharaohs is on those who wish to continue to perpetrate this commonly accepted misconception. No one has to prove they are not tombs, but rather advocates of this misinformation must prove that they were, or just shut up, open their minds, take a seat on the back benches of Egyptology, learn and grow. This of course leaves all of the officially recognized “experts” with a major dilemma. For to admit to this major error calls in question everything else they claim to know. Their reputations are at stake. Very few ‘experts' are willing to accept a theory that illustrates their ignorance. As President Harry Truman said “ the only thing new in this world is the history that you don't know.” Unfortunately this concept eludes the powers that be regarding ancient Egypt . They continually contend that anything they don't know doesn't exist, and can't exist until they do know it. Meanwhile they completely accept misconceptions for no other reason than they were inherited from previous generations, who presumably knew less than we do today. Thus the tyranny of ignorance endures.

More importantly, if the theory that the Great Pyramids at Giza were built as tombs for Pharaohs falls, every text book on the planet regarding ancient Egypt will become obsolete.

I, Jennis Strickland, challenge anyone to debate this in a public forum. I will meet anyone with public standing to argue this and the other assertions made at Open Cheops under the auspices of any recognized group in a formal setting. I invite any of the various organized interest groups, academia, or media to sponsor it. The question is of historic importance for history itself is at stake. The entire world will pay attention.

So the gauntlet is thrown. It's time for the experts to put up or shut up. If there is any solid evidence, much less proof that the Great Pyramids were built as tombs for Pharaohs let them present it now. And let the world judge the results.

After which we may be able to move on to the re-opening of the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Its contents will change history as it has been known.
