Lecture by Dr. Zahi Hawass

Dr. Zahi Hawass appeared at the National Geographic Headquarters auditorium on October 15, 2003 as part of a world tour in support of his new autobiography entitled : ZAHI HAWASS Secrets from the Sand - My Search for Egypt’s Past . Dr. Hawass is a very charming and engaging speaker. His talk was smooth and effective. His book is very revealing.

Dr. Hawass accepts questions from his audiences. I followed up on a question I had asked Dr. Hawass in the same forum after his talk in 1998. That question had been “ What do you think of the interior ramp theory, and do you accept the possibility that there are as yet unknown, unopened chambers within Cheops ?" Dr. Hawass replied at that time that the ramp had been exterior from the West, his work had proved it; and that it was the only possibility. He answered the second part of the question more gruffly, saying that "he knew for a fact there were no more chambers within Cheops other than the ones now opened.” This statement was witnessed by 800 people and videotaped by the National Geographic Magazine.

In the interim, the drilling of Gattenbrink’s door (which is located at the end of a small so called 'air shaft' within the "Queen's Chamber of Cheops") in September of 2002, broadcast live around the world, revealed an apparently sealed chamber. Another was found a few days later on the Queen’s Chamber ‘air shaft’opposite the first.

This event validated and corroborated the Open Cheops Committee’s assertions that the Great Pyramid of Cheops is laced with unopened corridors, chambers, and halls.

It proved Dr. Hawass to have been 100% wrong in his previous position, for it proved once and for all, that indeed, there are undiscovered and unopened chambers with the Great Pyramid of Cheops.

But on October 15th, 2003, Dr. Hawass equivocated regarding his previous response to the existence of unknown chambers in a diplomatic way, saying that he didn't recall saying exactly that. But then Dr. Hawass commented that “these chambers were found off what is called the Queen’s Chamber, but we don’t know if it was ever used by a Queen. There never has been a burial found in a great pyramid. We do not actually know they are tombs.” With that statement Dr. Hawass has signaled a sea change in position. While no one in the audience, (or the National Geographic for that matter,) seemed to notice, the Open Cheops Committee was paying attention.

Dr. HAWASS' ANSWER TO THE OPEN CHEOPS CHALLENGE IS HIS PUBLIC ADMISSION THAT THERE IS NO EVIDENCE ANY OF THE GREAT PYRAMIDS AT GIZA WERE USED AS TOMBS.

The Open Cheops Committee thanks Dr. Hawass for his response to our challenge to produce evidence that a Great Pyramid had been used as a tomb.

With this single statement Dr. Hawass has made every tomb based textbook and Ph.D. obsolete. Literally, history has been changed!

We invite Dr. Hawass and others to examine this website with a critical eye. Insofar as the location of entrances to Cheops, and the existence of unopened chambers can be easily verified with hand tools and a little labor, there are simply no reasons left not to look. There is something far greater than digging up the next mummy. The Great Pyramids are not about religion, but long lost science of the mind itself. The best is yet to come. We have nothing to lose but a little ignorance.
